In Islam, death is approached with dignity, care, and deep respect for the deceased. Once death occurs, the body is prepared according to Islamic teachings, beginning with ghusl, the ritual washing carried out by trained individuals of the same gender. The body is then wrapped in a simple white kafan (shroud), symbolising equality and humility before Allah.
Following preparation, the community gathers for Salat al-Janazah, a congregational funeral prayer seeking mercy and forgiveness for the deceased. The burial then takes place as soon as possible, with the body laid to rest in the grave in accordance with Islamic practice. These rites are performed with simplicity and reverence, reflecting core Islamic values of compassion, respect, and submission to the will of Allah.
